Course Description
The Sports Therapy foundation year course is ideal for those who have the ability to study for a degree but don't have the necessary formal qualifications to directly join an honours programme. It's a great stepping stone to a full degree.
Upon successful completion of the foundation year, you can progress to the BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy course or a related degree.

Entry Requirements
- UCAS: 64 points at A2 preferably in Biology or PE or Sports or Exercise Science
- BTEC Extended Diploma: MPP
- BTEC Diploma: MM
- Pass Access Course: 64 UCAS points
- International Baccalaureate Diploma: Pass including 64 points from Higher Level Subjects
- T Level: P (D or E) preferably in Biology or PE or Sports or Exercise Science
- If no previous study in Biology/PE/Sport Sci applicants are asked to complete A 500-word written piece on anatomy and physiology on the topic of your choice.
- IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5
- GCSEs: 5 at grade C/4 including Maths and English or equivalent
- A satisfactory Criminal records declaration (DBS/Disclosure Scotland) is required for this course

Accreditations
- Society of Sports Therapists (SST)
This course has been designed with the support of its accrediting body, the SST, the lead organisation for Sports Therapists in the UK. On graduation, you will be eligible for full membership of the organisation.
Future Careers
On completion of the four-year Sports Therapy programme, you’ll be a well-rounded practitioner able to help athletes return to full fitness.
Through a blend of specialist learning, hands-on training, and practical application, you’ll be well-prepared to practice in a variety of industry settings. Professional development is at the heart of this degree, with a strong focus on real-world experience. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to work in our student-led Sports Therapy and Sports Massage Clinic on our Preston Campus. This fully equipped injury clinic, featuring a cutting-edge movement analysis lab, offers a real-world environment for you to refine your expertise.
Many of our graduates go on to launch successful private injury clinics, while others secure roles with professional and semi-professional sports teams and organisations. With the increasing demand for sports therapists in healthcare, graduates also find rewarding careers in the NHS and private healthcare. Moreover, the transferable skills you gain will open doors in teaching, coaching, sports science, and strength and conditioning.
