The aim of this workshop is to develop both theoretical knowledge and clinical skills in order to perform venepuncture safely and efficiently.

Course Objectives

By the end of the workshops participants will:


  • Understand the relevant anatomy and physiology of the venous system
  • Understand the professional issues surrounding venepuncture
  • Understand the principles of venepuncture – recognising correct technique, procedure and the management of such an intervention
  • Gain the ability to perform the venepuncture technique within a simulated environment
