This Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid course meets the requirements of the Early Years foundation stage statutory framework. This course meets Ofsted requirements for registered childminders and the requirements under the Approved Carers Scheme.

- Roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
- Incident and casualty assessment
- CPR
- Unconscious casualty
- Choking casualty
- Anaphylaxis
- Shock
- External bleeding
- Minor injuries
- Bites and stings
- Eyes, ears and nose conditions
- Fractures, dislocations and sprains
- Head and spinal injuries
- Chronic medical conditions or sudden illness
- Body temperature
- Electric shock
- Burns and scalds
- Poisonous substances

Learning Environment
Course Assessment and Certification
This qualification is built from two units.
- Unit 1: Emergency Paediatric First Aid
- Unit 2: Managing Paediatric Illness, Injuries and Emergencies
Learners must complete both units successfully to achieve the QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF) qualification. All practical and written assessments must be passed to gain the qualification. On completion learners will be qualified and certified.
