Entry requirements

  • T Level: P (C+) - M
  • IELTS: 6.0 with no Component lower than 5.5
  • Learners will be required to have level two English and Maths or commit to achieving them through the programme before gateway
  • Admission to the programme will depend on an enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service Check)
  • Applicants will require a successful interview, where the position is new, the applicant will be interviewed by the employer and a member of the course team with a decision being made together. Where the position is an existing one, applicants will be interviewed by a member of the course team.

Fees and funding

Tuition Fees are paid by funding through the Employer and/or Government via the Apprenticeship Levy, meaning that you as the learner do not pay the standard tuition fee rates.

Learning and end point assessment

Our course is taught via day release, you will attend university one day per week.


You'll complete a variety of different assessments as part of your programme. These will include case studies, evaluations, assessed discussions, role plays and presentations. We have no exams on our programme.


You'll be taught by passionate youth workers with a wealth of experience in teaching and assessment as well as working with young people.


You'll study in a supportive, engaging environment where you'll be challenged. We'll give you the opportunity, time, and resources to learn to be the best youth worker you can be.

Enrolment on the course is subject to a mandatory DBS check.


As you’ll be working with vulnerable groups of individuals, including children, you’ll need a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance (formerly termed CRB). We’ll be able to guide you through this process once you have been offered a conditional place of study here.


If your Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check proves to be unsatisfactory, your offer of a place may be withdrawn.

Information for employers

You'll employ an apprentice to do a real job while they study for a formal qualification one day a week at our Burnley Campus.


This course meets Apprenticeship Standards. Your apprentice will have the knowledge and skills to succeed in their chosen career or progress to the next apprenticeship level.


Apprentices follow an approved study programme. This means they’ll gain a nationally recognised qualification at the end of their apprenticeship.


They’ll study a broad range of skills and knowledge that can be applied to their professional practice.
