Maintenance Engineering MSc

Overview

Our MSc Maintenance Engineering course is perfect for engineers who have recently graduated and those with experience who are looking to extend their knowledge or update their qualifications with a view to career advancement.

What You’ll Do

This may be in the fields of design, analysis, development, manufacture, application, sales and maintenance of high technology products, systems, and services.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants should hold at least a 2:2 Degree of BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, Material Sciences or other related subjects
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to cope with and benefit from Masters level studies
  • IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5
  • Applicants who do not have the appropriate level of Honours Degree will be advised to apply for the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Maintenance Top-Up

  • UK: £9,450 per year (full-time), £2,625 for the placement year, £1,050 per 20 credits (part-time)

Learning and Assessment

  • We adopt a range of approaches to help you learn and get the most out of the course. You’ll attend lectures, tutorials and practical sessions, exploring case studies and undertaking independent learning along the way.
  • We’ll assess you using a number of methods including exams, tutorial questions, online assessments, written reports, extended assignments and presentations.

Pathway Opportunities

  • After successfully completing this programme you’ll be eligible to apply for progression to leading research degrees based within the University’s Jost Institute for Tribotechnology.

Further Information

  • To enhance your work experience you will have an opportunity to undertake a professional placement as part your MSc. This will extend your study time by six to twelve months depending on the length of the placement. Alternatively, there are opportunities to choose an industry-based project.
  • You are responsible for finding your own placement. We will support you in preparation for this with the Faculty Placement Team and Careers Team, who can help you plan and develop your CV and applications, and have practice interviews.
