Learning and assessment

  • This course is designed to develop subject-specific skills. You will experience diverse perspectives. Learning materials include a range of examples and voices, allowing students to see themselves reflected in what they are learning and make connections to their own experiences.
  • You will be taught by:
    • Lectures, seminars, project/dissertation supervision
    • Role-play, group-work simulation, listening comprehension
    • Portfolio-based learning, written exercises (e.g. translation, prose, reading comprehension)
    • eLearn platform available for some modules
    • Use of both textual and non-textual sources, such as film, art, and music
  • There is a range of assessment types used to cover multiple approaches and learning styles.
  • Support includes:
    • Assignment briefs
    • Group and individual tutorials
    • Guidance on criteria and meeting learning outcomes
  • Examples of assessments include:
    • Oral presentations, essays, reports
    • Oral/written tests, examinations, portfolios, dissertations
    • Formative assessments including weekly homework
