Compulsory modules

  • Facilitating Learning in Healthcare Practice
    • Module code: DG3001
    • Description: This module will enable you as a health care practitioner to analyse the requirements for effective facilitation of learning within and outside the workplace. You'll appropriately apply principles of best practice to teaching, supportive learning, assessing and giving feedback to others.
  • Dissertation
    • Module code: DX3001
    • Description: You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your transferable, communication and analytical skills within a professional produced piece of theoretical work on the topic of your choice. You will be guided by your module tutor to develop a relevant and modern dissertation. You'll also gain greater confidence in your ability to conduct independent research. There is the option to complete this module at the end of your first year.
  • Applied Clinical Science
    • Module code: DX3003
    • Description: The module aims to develop your general and specific understanding of human cells, tissues, and structure of organs of the head, face, neck, and oral cavity to include the tongue, teeth, lips, salivary glands, and sense organs and some scientific underpinning for oral conditions associated with immunological disorders and disorders of the blood.

The University has an excellent range of electronic resources to support the course and guidance will provide at the induction on access to these.
  • Each module is assessed independently using a range of assessment techniques that are appropriate to the learning outcomes and contents of the module. Examples of assessments include essays, portfolios and there is one exam.
