Course Content
The course is for health care professionals caring for patients with a cancer diagnosis, working across a range of settings.
- You'll learn to identify and manage acute complications of cancer treatment including those caused by:
- Cytotoxic chemotherapy
- Targeted therapies
- Immunotherapy
- Radiotherapy
- You'll be able to identify and manage acute complications of cancer for example:
- Superior vena cava obstruction
- Metastatic spinal cord compression
- Hypercalcaemia
- Learn to evaluate, investigate, manage, and support acutely unwell adult patients and those who may have suspected cancer of unknown primary (CUP) and/or malignancy of undefined primary origin (MUO).
- You'll learn about the role of the Acute Oncology Service locally and regionally. We also cover collaborative working between generalist and specialist services.
- Gain personal development, enhance your own knowledge skills and learn how to influence others.
