Overview

The Conflict and Collaboration Certificate of Advanced Study is designed to equip students with the skills to manage conflicts and promote collaboration among individuals and diverse teams. This program is offered online, on-campus in Syracuse, N.Y., or in a hybrid format.

Program Details

• Format: Online, on-campus, or hybrid
• Credits: 12 graduate-level credits (four courses)
• Eligibility: Open to non-matriculated students with a bachelor's degree (including mid-career) and all matriculated master's students of Syracuse University
• GRE and Work Experience: Not required

Flexible Learning Format

Online

• Live, 100% Online Classes: Learn and practice new skills face-to-face with faculty and classmates via webcam.
• Multimedia Coursework: Assignments include interactive videos, real-world case studies, readings, and collaborative projects.
• Flexible Schedule: Assignments reinforce classroom discussion and are available 24/7 online and via the mobile app.
• Technical Support: Our team is available to help you acclimate to the online platform or resolve technical difficulties.

On Campus

• Elective Courses: Tailor your program with elective courses offered across the University's 13 schools and colleges.
• Residential Intensive Summer Institute: Participate in intensive one-week, 3-credit courses in skills-based conflict training.

Hybrid

• All Courses Available: All online, on-campus, and Summer Institute courses that count toward the certificate are available to all students enrolled in the CAS.

Curriculum

• Core Course: PAI 601 Fundamentals of Conflict Studies
• Electives: Three 3-credit electives, for a total of 12 credits
• Online Instruction: Available core courses and electives include:
  • PAI 601 Fundamentals of Conflict Studies
  • ANT 624 Negotiation: Theory and Practices
  • PAI 732 Collaborative and Participatory Governance: Developing Collaborative Competencies for Managers
  • SOC 621 Mediation: Theory and Practice
• On-Campus Instruction: Work with your advisor to select electives that meet your goals.

Admission and Financial Aid

• Eligibility: Open to students who have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• GRE and Work Experience: Not required.
• Scholarships: Available for students who matriculate into this CAS program as a stand-alone student.
• Financial Aid: Federal education loans are not available for this stand-alone CAS.
• U.S. Veterans: The CAS program is an approved program of study at Syracuse University, allowing student veterans to access VA benefits toward their study in this field.
