Program Overview
Master of Public Health Program (MPH)
The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is designed to provide students with a population perspective on health. The program aims to prepare students to tackle current and emerging global public health problems, provide students with critical multidisciplinary training to help solve global health problems, and equip students with foundational public health knowledge and competencies.
Program Overview
The MPH program is governed by the MPH Executive Board, composed of faculty from all departments of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The program has several objectives, including preparing students to tackle current and emerging global public health problems, providing students with critical multidisciplinary training, and equipping students with foundational public health knowledge and competencies.
Program Requirements
The MPH program requires a minimum of 80 credits for graduation. Students must complete the MPH core curriculum, which includes courses in biostatistics, epidemiology, social and behavioral determinants of health, management sciences, public health problem-solving, computer applications, demography, environmental health, biological sciences, and public health policy. Students must also complete a practicum experience, a capstone project, and an individualized goals analysis.

Practicum Experience
The practicum experience is a requirement for graduation and must be completed during the MPH program. The experience must be at least 100 hours and must be supervised by a qualified preceptor. Students can complete the practicum experience through a variety of ways, including working with a faculty member or an outside organization.
Capstone Project
The capstone project is a requirement for graduation and must be completed at the end of or within the final two terms of the program. The project must be done under the direction of a faculty member and must include a written and oral component. The project can take many forms, including a literature review, program plan, program evaluation, policy analysis, research proposal, or research report.
