BA(Hons) Fashion Communication
The BA(Hons) Fashion Communication course is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the fashion industry. This interdisciplinary, practice-led course enables students to explore how the fashion industry communicates through diverse, creative media.

Course Structure
The course is divided into three years, with each year building on the previous one. The structure is as follows:
- Year one: Exploring Practice in Fashion Communication, Design Contexts, Introduction to Fashion Communication, and Contextualising Practice in Fashion Communication 1.
- Year two: Developing Practice in Fashion Communication: Realisation, Developing Practice in Fashion Communication: Exploration, Design Futures, and Contextualising Practice in Fashion Communication 2.
- Final year: Design Research Project, Self-Directed Study in Fashion Communication: Exploration, Self-Directed Study in Fashion Communication: Realisation, and Contextualising Practice in Fashion Communication 3.
Learning and Teaching
The course uses a mix of taught, independent, and collaborative learning to develop students' professional and creative strengths. The teaching methods include lectures, seminars, tutorials, technical, academic, and employability workshops, presentations, critiques, and external visits.
Assessment
There are no formal exams in this program. Instead, assessments are based on creative practice work, presentations, reports, and written or film essays. These assessments take place at key points in the module, and formative assessment is offered throughout the module to enable students to track their progress.

Careers
The course prepares students for a variety of professions across the fashion industry, including art direction, fashion film, social media, advertising, marketing, copywriting, photography, event management, styling, and more. Past graduates have gone on to work with iconic brands such as Burberry, Gucci, and Levi's.
Features
The course offers a range of features, including placements, study exchange, fieldwork, and study facilities. Students can undertake work experience, spend a semester at a partner university abroad, and participate in field trips to agencies, factories, and events. Entry Requirements

- GCSE: Grade C/4 in English, or equivalent.

- English Language Requirement: International and EU applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent).
Selection Process
Following the review of the application, if the student is not studying a related subject, they may be requested to provide a digital portfolio. If asked to provide a digital portfolio, the student may also be invited for an online interview. A decision will then be made based on both the application and the review of the portfolio.
