MA Education (Distance Learning)

The MA Education (Distance Learning) is a postgraduate program designed for education professionals seeking to advance their careers and contribute to the development of educational practice. This flexible, part-time qualification allows students to apply theoretical models to their professional context, reflect on their experiences, and engage in educational research.

The program enables students to personalize their studies, linking academic theory with educational policy and everyday practice. Entry Requirements

• Usually, applicants are required to hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent).
• Applicants without a degree must demonstrate suitability for study at the master's level.
• Accredited Learning is available for relevant qualifications (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, Dip Ed) up to a maximum of 90 credits.
• Accredited Experiential Learning may be available for recognized professional training/CPD courses.
• International students are welcome to apply, with country-specific entry requirements available.

English Language Requirement

• International and EU applicants must have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5, with no component below 5.5.
• The University accepts various UK and International qualifications in place of IELTS.

Structure

Content

The program includes an initial 15-credit module supporting professional and academic development, followed by optional modules chosen based on prior experience, qualifications, and current working context. Compulsory modules include:

• Researching Education (Year two)
• Project (Final year)

Optional modules may include:

• Education Leadership, Management and Change
• Introduction to Race, Social Justice and Sustainability
• Digital Learning and Teaching

Learning and Teaching

Teaching methods include online lectures, project work, group work, and tutorials. The program features a student-centered approach, with self-directed study, independent reading, and assignment preparation. Online platforms facilitate remote learning, allowing students to progress at their own pace.

Assessment

Assessment methods include essays, reports, reflective diaries, professional portfolios, oral presentations, and dissemination activities. A final compulsory assessment involves a research project with formal and informal dissemination.
