MSc/Postgraduate Diploma/Postgraduate Certificate Business and Events Management

Overview

The MSc Business and Events Management is a postgraduate program designed to provide students with the critical understanding required to operate as responsible and strategic events practitioners. The program is open to graduates from any discipline and offers a comprehensive education in business and events management.


Entry Requirements

  • An honours degree (minimum 2.2) in any subject.
  • If the above requirement is not met, but the applicant has at least two years of events management responsibility or experience as a consultant/sole practitioner and/or equivalent qualifications, they will be considered on an individual basis.
  • A personal statement is required for this course.

English Language Requirement

  • International and EU applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent).

The program includes the following modules:


  • The Anatomy of a Business
  • Career Catalyst: Developing Skills for Long Term Success
  • Navigating Organisational Complexity
  • Creating Successful Events Plus one of the following pairs of optional modules:
  • Enterprise Project: Concept Development
  • Enterprise Project: Business Realisation Or
  • Management Project: Group Project Challenge
  • Management Project: Individual Project Challenge Or
  • Work-Based Learning Project: Project Scoping
  • Work-Based Learning Project: Implementation and review

Learning and Teaching

The MSc Business and Events Management is offered as a one-year intensive course of study. Students learn through formal lectures, seminars, group work, mentor meetings, and further independent study.


Study Time

Students attend the University for 12 months with scheduled classes taking place for an average of 12 hours per week during term time.


Assessment

Assessments are designed to enable students to develop a range of skills and insights that can be applied in a future career. The skills required for success in assessments include collaborative teamwork, evidence-based discussion, advanced communication skills, information processing, strategic decision-making, and deadline management.
