Program Overview

BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science (with Foundation Year)

The BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science (with Foundation Year) is a four-year full-time or five-year sandwich course that provides strong practical skills in the biomedical sciences field. The course is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and offers the option to gain a year's work experience with a leading employer in the UK or abroad.

About the Course

The course focuses on human health and disease, combining clinical science and research to understand the biology behind diseases and the latest advances in medical research. Students will gain broad knowledge across various biomedical science disciplines and have the chance to tailor their learning by focusing on areas that interest them the most.

Why Study Biomedical Science?

The course provides a hands-on learning experience, with students gaining essential practical experience through placements, internships, and volunteering. Students will work at the cutting edge of biomedical science using highly specialized equipment and will be supported by tutors who are leading biomedical science specialists.

What Can I Do with a Biomedical Science Degree?

Graduates will have the opportunity to pursue a variety of careers, including roles such as registered clinical biomedical scientist or in research and development within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. A biomedical science degree from UWE Bristol can lead to HCPC registration and Band 5 Biomedical Scientist roles in the NHS.
