Business and Human Resource Management (Industry) BSc Hons

The BSc Business and Human Resource Management (Industry) degree is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of business and human resource management principles. This four-year program includes a third-year industry placement, allowing students to gain practical experience and apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting.

Introduction

The program explores how people are key to business strategy and success, and how modern human resource professionals shape the culture, performance, and future of organizations. Students will examine key human resources practices, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and more.

Course Structure

The program consists of four years, with the third year spent on an industry placement. The course structure includes:

• Year 1: Core modules such as Economics for Business, Foundations in Management Theory and Practice, Key Issues and Debates in Organisations, Work and Technologies, Principles of Marketing, and Professional Development for Study and Your Future Career.
• Year 2: Core modules including Ethics and Responsibility in a Global Context, Human Resource Management in Practice, Human Resource Management: Managing Our Working Lives, Research Methods for Business and Management, and Understanding People and Management.
• Year 3: Placement Year, where students spend a year working in a graduate-level placement role.
• Year 4: Core modules such as Capstone Project, Contemporary Perspectives on Work and Human Resources, Managing People and Change, Managing People Globally, and Work and Employment Relations in the Global Economy.

Entry Requirements

The typical entry requirements for this program are:

• A levels: ABB
• Access to HE Diploma: 30 Level 3 credits at Distinction plus 15 Level 3 credits at Merit
• Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales: Accepted in place of one A level, or equivalent qualification, as long as any subject requirements are met
• BTEC Extended Diploma: DDM
• BTEC in combination with A levels: A level at grade B plus BTEC(s) at DD, or A levels at grade BB plus BTEC at D
• International Baccalaureate: 32 points overall with 16 points from the best 3 HL subjects
• Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers: We are happy to admit applicants on the basis of five Highers, but where we require a specific subject at A level, we will typically require an Advanced Higher in that subject
• T levels: Distinction overall

Fees and Funding

The annual tuition fee for Home students is ｣9,790, and for International students, it is ｣26,260. Additional costs may include:

• College fees: ｣40 for undergraduates and research students, and ｣15 for students on one-year courses
• Computer equipment and internet access: Students will need access to a computer and reliable internet access
• Study abroad courses: Travel and accommodation costs, as well as any required travel documents or vaccinations
• Placement and industry year courses: Commuting costs, clothing suitable for the workplace, and accommodation costs

Scholarships and Bursaries

Lancaster University offers various scholarships and bursaries, including:

• Lancaster Bursary: ｣1,000 in each year of study, based on household income
• Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship Home: ｣3,000 in the first year of study, based on entry grades
• International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship: ｣3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study, based on entry grades
• International Study Centre Progression Scholarship: ｣3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study, based on nationality or country of domicile and entry grades
• India Scholarship Undergraduate: ｣3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study, based on nationality or country of permanent residence
