Course Structure

The program is divided into four years, with the third year spent abroad at one of Lancaster University's global partner institutions. • Global Challenges in World Politics: Exploration of forces driving change in the international system, implications for global order and human security, and tools to navigate and contribute to a complex and interconnected world.
• Political Theory in a Troubled World: Examination of how the history of political thought can help understand contemporary crises, including political instability, economic crises, deepening inequalities, environmental degradation, and technological disruptions.
• Professional Development for Economics: Introduction to data visualization techniques and development of essential employability skills, including CV development, presentation techniques, and industry communication strategies.

Optional Modules

• Communicating using Economic Data: Teaching of how to interpret, analyze, and present economic data effectively, covering key concepts in data visualization, statistical analysis, and economic theory.
• Economic Inequality: Expansion of knowledge on the topic of inequality and its relationship with the macroeconomy, introducing measurement and analysis of inequality data, underlying theory, and potential policy solutions.
• Environmental Economics: Introduction to key concepts, tools, and methods in environmental economics, along with policy applications, including property rights, externalities, benefit-cost analysis, pollution control, climate change, and management of natural resources.
