Entry Requirements

The typical entry requirements for the Engineering (with a Foundation Year) BEng Hons program are:

• A levels: CCC, including Mathematics and either Chemistry or Physics
• Access to HE Diploma: Considered on a case-by-case basis
• Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales: Accepted in place of one A level
• BTEC Extended Diploma: MMM, considered on a case-by-case basis
• International Baccalaureate: 26 points overall, with 14 points from the best 3 HL subjects
• Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers: Accepted, with specific requirements for certain subjects
• T levels: May be considered on a case-by-case basis
• GCSE requirements: Mathematics grade 6/B, English Language grade 4/C
• English language requirements: IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with at least 5.5 in each component

Course Structure

The foundation year consists of three subject-specific modules, designed to align with the intended undergraduate degree. Students will study one compulsory module in Scientific Maths and pick two additional STEM modules from:

• Physics

The annual tuition fee for the Engineering (with a Foundation Year) BEng Hons program is:

• Home: £9,790
• International: Not applicable

Scholarships and Bursaries

Students may be eligible for various scholarships and bursaries, including:

• Lancaster Bursary: £1,000 in each year of study
• Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship – Home: £3,000 in the first year of study
• International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship: £3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
• Undergraduate International Regional Scholarship: £3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
• International Study Centre Progression Scholarship: £3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
• India Scholarship – Undergraduate: £3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
• Lancaster Sanctuary Scholarship: Full fees, up to £5,000 per year living costs

Keep Your Options Open

Students who are unsure of their specialization can use the UCAS code H100 Engineering to leave their options open. The common first year allows students to change their specialization at the end of the first year, subject to meeting the requirements of that course.
