History and Politics BA Hons

Entry Requirements

The typical entry requirements for this course are:


  • A levels: AAB
  • Access to HE Diploma: 36 Level 3 credits at Distinction plus 9 Level 3 credits at Merit
  • Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales: accepted in place of one A level, or equivalent qualification
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: DDD
  • International Baccalaureate: 35 points overall with 16 points from the best 3 HL subjects
  • Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers: we are happy to admit applicants on the basis of five Highers, but where we require a specific subject at A level, we will typically require an Advanced Higher in that subject

Students may be eligible for a range of scholarships and bursaries, including:


  • Lancaster Bursary: Ł1,000 in each year of study
  • Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship Home: Ł3,000 in the first year of study
  • International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship: Ł3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
  • Undergraduate International Regional Scholarship: Ł3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
  • India Scholarship Undergraduate: Ł3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
