Who is the BSc Marketing Management (Industry) year 2 entry course for?

The application to the year 2 entry BSc Marketing Management (Industry) degree programme is primarily for students from institutions with an appropriate partnership agreement. Under these agreements, the equivalent of Year 1 will be studied at one of our partner universities. It also provides students on Lancaster University's BSc Business Management or BSc International Management degrees with the opportunity to switch to a marketing programme after their first year.

We accept the following programmes for entry to BSc Marketing Management (Industry):

  • INTO Manchester International Year One International Business, Accounting and Finance

Other students

We will consider other students on a case-by-case basis. We will require:


  1. Information on your pre-degree or high school qualifications.
  2. For non-native speakers of English, we require an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each component.
  3. Information on your current or previous undergraduate study, including a list of all the modules you have completed and are yet to complete.
  4. We require a reference from someone who has taught you as part of your undergraduate studies.

Year 2

In your second year, you will take five core modules and select one optional module.


Core modules

  • Digital Marketing and Analytics: This module will support your learning of how marketers and advertising agencies develop strategies to engage with their target customers.
  • Global Markets and Responsibility: This module evaluates the value chain of global organisations who work together to design, source and deliver products to the end consumer.
  • Marketing in Practice: Step into the role of a marketing decision-maker in a simulated digital business environment.
  • Marketing Management Essentials: This module provides an in-depth exploration of some key contemporary marketing topics.
  • Research Methods: Before any organisation can create products, services, and brands, and the campaigns which bring these to life, they need to have clear understanding of their target customers.

Optional modules

  • Entrepreneurship in Context: This module will immerse you in the unique and interrelated areas where entrepreneurial practices and opportunities emerge.
  • Global Business Knowledge and Mindset (Study Abroad): Boost your CV by gaining international experience and earn credits towards your degree.
  • Innovation and New Product Development: Peter Drucker, one of the core founders of marketing thinking, once said business is about two things: marketing and innovation.
  • Marketing of Services: Marketing services rather than physical products presents a distinct set of challenges.
  • Spreadsheet Modelling Techniques: Many organisational recruiters have identified several key skills and areas of knowledge that they seek in prospective employees.
  • Understanding People and Management: This module will help you understand people and how they are managed and controlled in the workplace.
  • Visual Cultures: Our everyday lives are saturated by images of all kinds.

Year 3

Your placement takes place in the third year of your four-year degree. You will spend this year working in a graduate-level placement role.


Year 4

In your fourth year, you will take three core modules and select three optional modules. At least one of your optional modules must be a marketing module.

  • Advanced Spreadsheet Modelling Techniques: This module builds on the techniques developed during earlier spreadsheet modelling modules.
  • Business to Business Marketing and Negotiations: Discover how marketing works in business markets, where long-term relationships and negotiation play a central role.
  • Contemporary Issues in Marketing: This module explores some of the most pressing issues that marketers face today.
  • Global Sustainable Development: Can global sustainable development be effectively managed?
  • International Marketing Management: Explore how organisations operate across borders and adapt their marketing strategies to different international contexts.
  • Managing People and Change: Organisational change is a defining feature of modern life.

Fees and funding

Our annual tuition fee is set for a 12-month session, starting at the beginning of each academic year.

Additional fees and funding information

  • Additional costs: There may be extra costs related to your course for items such as books, stationery, printing, photocopying, binding and general subsistence on trips and visits.
  • College fees: Lancaster is proud to be one of only a handful of UK universities to have a collegiate system.
  • Computer equipment and internet access: To support your studies, you will also require access to a computer, along with reliable internet access.
  • Study abroad courses: In addition to travel and accommodation costs, while you are studying abroad, you will need to have a passport and, depending on the country, there may be other costs such as travel documents (e.g. VISA or work permit) and any tests and vaccines that are required at the time of travel.
  • Placement and industry year courses: In addition to possible commuting costs during your placement, you may need to buy clothing that is suitable for your workplace and you may have accommodation costs.

What is my fee status?

The fee that you pay will depend on whether you are considered to be a home or international student.


Fees in subsequent years

Home fees are subject to annual review, and are liable to rise each year in line with UK government policy.


Scholarships and bursaries

You will be automatically considered for our main scholarships and bursaries when you apply, so there's nothing extra that you need to do.
