The Innovation Catalyst is a proven and powerful way of helping individual firms and regional collectives with shared issues to develop effective long-term solutions. The programme is designed to address the 21st Century Big Challenges, with a particular focus on the net zero agenda and cyber security threats.

Programme Structure

The programme consists of several key components:

• Catalyst Activation: A two-day induction event to stimulate ideas and develop a peer group.
• Innovation Collaboratories: Expertly facilitated sessions to exchange knowledge, share expertise, and accelerate innovation.
• Innovation Accelerator: Break-out sessions for delegates to experiment, test, and learn from ideas developed during facilitated activities.
• Final Symposium: A session to reflect on the group's journey and plan action to continue tackling challenges.

Costs and Eligibility

The programme is fully funded by the Community Renewal Fund and is available to businesses that meet the following criteria:

• Based in Lancashire (excluding Blackpool and Blackburn)
• Operating in the manufacturing or engineering sector, or having links to these sectors
• Commitment to attend all sessions and be an active participant

Programme Details

The programme starts on 22 March 2022 and runs for four months. It is designed and delivered by Lancaster University in partnership with Lancashire County Council. The programme includes a series of investigative and action-focused 'Innovation Collaboratories' to collectively map out goals, challenges, and innovation needs.
