Bachelor in Political Science
The Bachelor in Political Science is a three-year full-time program that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of political and social issues from various perspectives.
Program Overview
- The program is taught in Dutch.
- It is located on the Stadscampus in the heart of Antwerpen.
- The program is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
- The program consists of 180 study points.
First Part: Theoretical Foundation
- Students are introduced to the basic principles of political science.
- Additional courses in economics, law, philosophy, and other related fields are also provided.
Second and Third Parts: Political Science
In the second and third parts of the bachelor's program, students receive more politically oriented courses:
- A strong methodological training and skills such as written and verbal argumentation are emphasized.
- The study of politics at all levels: local, regional, national, international, and global.
- Insight into the state structure of different countries and the history of political events.
- The advantages and disadvantages of certain forms of government.
Research and Methodology
What is learned in the lessons is based on research results. Students also take their first steps in research, getting acquainted with the most important research methods and learning the basics of statistics. In the third part of the trajectory, students conduct independent research, learning among other things:
- to think of and formulate research questions
- to work out research
- to analyze, interpret, and report research results
