Postgraduate Program in Nursing for General Practice
The postgraduate program in nursing for general practice is designed to support general practitioners in primary care. The program aims to equip nurses with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide efficient and effective care to patients with complex health needs.
Program Structure
The program consists of 35 credits with a total study load of 980 hours. It comprises four theoretical modules worth 20 credits and one practical module worth 15 credits.
- Praktijkorganisatie and communicatie (Practice Organization and Communication)
- Gezondheid, preventie, and patiėnteducatie (Health, Prevention, and Patient Education)
- Doelgroep specifieke protocolzorg, zorgplanning, case management, and integrated care within the context of cardio-vascular risk management, COPD and asthma, diabetes, and geriatric care
- Geestelijke gezondheidszorg (Mental Health Care)
- Klinische praktijk and intervisiemomenten (Clinical Practice and Intervision Moments)
Program Objectives
The program aims to train nurses who can support general practitioners in primary care, focusing on efficient practice organization. The nurse will have a facilitating and supportive role, with a focus on treating, caring for, and guiding patients with broad health questions and/or multimorbidity of biological, psychological, social, and existential nature.
Teaching Methods
The program uses the principle of 'guided independent study' with adapted teaching moments and various working methods. Instructors and lecturers support students throughout the process.
Evaluation and Certification
The program modules are evaluated through a combination of assessment forms (written and oral evaluation, portfolio, and synthesis project). Students who complete the entire program and receive a positive evaluation will receive a certificate of the postgraduate program in nursing for general practice.
Study Schedule
The lessons are spread over approximately 20 Thursdays from 13:45 to 21:00 (with a break). Modules 1 and 2 are scheduled in the first semester, and modules 3 and 4 are scheduled in the second semester. Module 5 is arranged in consultation with the program coordinator. It is also possible to enroll in individual modules after consultation with the program coordinator.
